Lot 4112 COLT MODEL 1871 OPEN TOP ARMY REVOLVER.
Cal. 44RF. S# 3141. Standard configuration with exception of original 7.5" barrel cut to 5". Manufactured 1871-1872 transitioning between 1860s and SAAs.This revolver shipped to John P. Moore & Sons, February 27, 1874, 7.5" barrel, 1-line "New York U.S. America" address, integral rear sight unique to this model. 2 line patents on left side of frame. Iron grip frame contains a Colt varnished walnut 1-piece grip. Ejector housing on right side of barrel. This was not a popular model for Colt, and most of production was sold in South America. CONDITION: fair to good overall, restored grips & hammer screw, cleaned gray pitted iron, address is good, front sight covers front part of address, 2-line patent on frame is good, cylinder has partial matching S#, mechanics good, discernible rifled bore.
